Laura Robson prepared for the heightened pressure of playing at Wimbledon |

www.guardian.co.uk "From the sounds of it, there is going to be quite a lot of pressure on me," Robson said. "I don't know what I am going to do but all I can do is go on court and try my best. Win or lose, if I have tried my best then I cannot be unhappy." Robson, who lost in the second round of the junior section of the French Open last week, will competed in next week's Liverpool International Tennis Tournament. "I know that [the world No9] Caroline Wozniacki has played the event in previous years and I have heard from others that it's a great place to practice before Wimbledon and a great event to get involved in." She also acknowledged she will need to play a lot more aggressively than usual to succeed at Wimbledon. "I always change my game a bit depending on what surface it is, so on grass I will start to play a lot more aggressively and work on my serve again," Robson said. "I remember from last year, I hated grass for the first week and a half and then I had a change of attitude and realised that actually I could play quite well on grass. But it's not easy in the first couple of days because the ball bounces differently." The former British No1, Tim Henman, believes that the experience will be of great benefit to Robson. "It's a great opportunity," said Henman. "Whatever happens, it's going to be a positive for Laura. She's playing the biggest and best tournament at home and this is purely about experience. So she should just enjoy it." |
